Shipping will continue to be hampered by overcapacity

The huge shipbuilding capacity further complicates the situation; shipbuilding giants like China can easily build capacity equivalent to 10% of the global fleet size annually. During the World Expo, all cargo ships entering the inland waterways of Shanghai must install VHF radios, but must not illegally use high-power radios. Yesterday, the Shanghai Radio Management Bureau, Shanghai Maritime Bureau, and Changjiang Shanghai Communications Administration jointly held a "100-day pre-World Expo inland waterway radio management rectification activity." According to reporters, an investigation last December showed that about 50% of cargo ships entering Shanghai's inland waterways illegally installed high-power radios, which may interfere with the normal use of other radio communication equipment.
